True Significance in the Academy: The Legacy of Christian Scholarship
Sponsored by the International Institute for Christian Studies (IICS) and Christian Studies International of Canada (CSI), this conference will explore what Christian academicians and professionals should pass on to future generations. IICS and CSI are international academic organizations which place Christian academicians and professionals in faculty positions at secular universities outside of North America and the U.K. IICS and CSI offer many teaching opportunities in all disciplines. Some questions to be addressed: "What are we as Christian academicians leaving for the next generation?" Or more importantly, "What should be our legacy as scholars who follow Christ?" Transformational Development Conference
Food for the Hungry and Eastern University are pleased to host the 2nd annual Transformational Development Conference 7-9 August 2009 on Eastern University's campus in St. Davids, Pennsylvania (USA). Confirmed speakers include Rene Padilla, Tony Campolo, Jaisankar Sarma, Lisa Sharon Harper, and Benjamin Homan. We are a community united by God's call to end physical and spiritual poverty worldwide. We desire to come together to engage in honest conversation that names our common hopes and signals the challenges we face. We convene to spur each other on to reshape our ways of visioning, living, and doing transformational development. Currently, we are soliciting proposal submissions for workshop presentations on the key areas impacting the future of development: theology, education, the Church, power and politics, Christian formation, partnerships, organizations, methods, measures, and means. The goals of the consultation are to experience scripture engagement together as a community; to discover, share, and reflect upon ways of encountering scripture; to identify emerging approaches that may shape the future practice of scripture engagement; and to encourage and nurture relationships and networks for post-event collaboration. This unique international consultation is designed for those who want to take time to stimulate their vision for the future whether they are experienced in scripture engagement on the ground or in leadership.
