newsmakers Randy Friesen was named general director of Mennonite Brethren Mission and Service (MBMS) International in Abbotsford, B.C., Canada. Friesen begins his duties September 1. He has been part of MBMS for the past 16 years as director of short term ministries. He succeeds Harold Ens, director for the past 12 years. calendar September 23-25: The IFMA EFMA EMS Triennial Conference is held at the Marriott Hotel airport location in St. Louis, Mo.
