newsmakers Hurricane Charley struck a blow to the 40-acre campus of Pioneers (www.pioneers.org), an Orlando, Fla.-based missions agency. Damage is estimated to approach $1 million. A 120-site recreational campground was especially hit hard. Several recreational vehicles and modulars were destroyed, including the mission’s guest units on its lakefront. An emergency fund has been established to help offset costs.

November 9-12: The Church Planting Institute (CPI) is sponsoring the Church Planting Movement Conference in Japan, near Tokyo and Mt. Fuji.
