AROUND THE WORLD

This year marks several significant missions anniversaries, says missions expert Paul Borthwick. One hundred years ago the Azusa Street Revival in California, USA, began. This launched the modern Pentecostal movement. Two hundred years ago the Haystack Prayer Meeting was held in Massachusetts, USA, which launched the modern missions movement in the United States. Today, students from around the world are blessed by the efforts of those involved with these movements. According to Borthwick, we all need to be dependent on the Holy Spirit in our lives. Ì¢‰âÒGod is still doing Book of Acts type stuff,Ì¢‰âÂå he said, mentioning widespread reports of entire villages of African Muslims coming to Christ after having visions of Jesus. Ì¢‰âÒThrough prayer and the power of the Holy Spirit students are mobilizing for a great advance into secular culture, into Muslim culture, into Buddhist culture, into the world that we live in and the world beyond ourselves.Ì¢‰âÂå (Assist News)
